The Marbletown First Aid Unit (MFAU) has operated continuously as an all-volunteer ambulance service since its inception in 1961. Headquartered in High Falls, MFAU’s two dozen volunteers serve Marbletown and parts of Rosendale and Rochester. We rely primarily for financial support on contributions from the communities that we serve.
MFAU was founded by Harriet Weber, considered the mother of emergency medical services in New York State. In recognition of her contributions, New York State bestows annually the Harriet C. Weber EMS Leadership Award to the EMS who has demonstrated the highest levels of executive and management skills in establishing, maintaining, promoting or expanding EMS organizations at the community or state level. In addition, there is a plaque in Albany bearing her name.
